What scares you in life? Spiders, socializing in large groups, heights, failing in your career? Whatever it may be, each one of these fears triggers certain reactions in each of us. You may feel your heart rate increase, sweat begins to build up, or maybe your chest feels heavy and weighted down. With a regular Yoga practice, you can learn to control your fear and not let IT control you.
Quick exercise: Take a moment to close your eyes and think about your fear and how it makes you feel. Now, time yourself, 90-seconds, to sit with your fear and FEEL it. If you have a paper and pen handy, write down what it felt like, what were your triggered reactions? When you’re done with the exercise, open your eyes, and give yourself permission to feel fear without judgment any longer.
You don’t have to be afraid of feeling those emotions, they are a part of you, and that’s okay. You can move forward with them in your life, and they no longer need to hold you back! What changes will you make in your life once you learn to conquer your fear?
