How To: Take a Virtual Yoga Class!

Since March 2020, the health and wellness industry has changed to offering more online classes rather than in-person. If you're not sure how to go about taking your first online class, follow these easy steps, and you'll be practicing with your favorite instructor once again!

1 - Check to see if your local Yoga Studio is offering virtual Classes. If so, log on to their website and choose a day and time that works well for your schedule. If not, search for an online class, anywhere with anyone!

2 - Make sure you have space to practice in, before taking the class. It should be comfortable and enough room for you to do the poses without hitting anything, and if you can, enough room to fall and not get hurt. :) Think of using the spare bedroom, office room, or the living room. If you don't have a mat at home, the carpet floor will work just fine.

3 - Now that you have your class scheduled and a space to practice in, get prepared for the experience! Online classes are different in the sense that you're not surrounded by other Yogis and the instructor isn't able to adjust you as they teach. Be prepared to correct yourself as the instructor cues the poses, and no need to stare at the computer or phone screen the entire class, listen to their cues, and do what feels right for your body. Have a water bottle, towel, and anything else you like to have for class handy. If you don't own any props like a strap, block, or bolster; use what you have on hand. A pillow, towel, or ottoman have worked well as props for different poses when performed at home.

4 - the beauty of online classes is that no one is watching you! Except for the instructor of course. So you don't need to worry about what your wearing, having make-up on, if your hair looks good, or if you can't do a certain pose. Come as you are and enjoy the privacy of practicing yoga in the comfort of your home. Try a class today! https://desireeyogacoach.com/
